La Cana, supporting female inmates

May 17, 2018

The company was founded by women who are worried about the poor conditions in which women live in penitentiaries, and how these affect their rehabilitation and social reintegration.

They are looking to create new opportunities for these women by offering them a dignified and productive job, where they can earn some money.

Through employment, they promote important values such as discipline, effort, compromise, and teamwork; it is not only about giving them an opportunity to work, they also offer programs and workshops focused on their personal development, which promote their social reintegration.

La Cana trains inmates with different weaving and embroidery techniques, through a workshop that is imparted weekly in Barrientos and Nezahualcoyotl Sur penitentiaries in Estado de Mexico. Subsequently, the company sells their handmade products and pays them for the sale of their work.

We are very happy to have La Cana´s product in our website and support women by giving them better opportunities of rehabilitation and reintegration.
